Shooting these family photos at Deception Pass was wonderful. We found a spot that wasn’t crowded at all and after some group shots, we let the kids run wild on the beach. It’s the perfect mid-way location if you’re coming from the Bellingham area and I’m coming from Seattle. I love when families choose to include grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins. It’s so special to have photos of everyone together and looking their best.
I’ve been working with this family since 2018. It’s amazing to see them year after year and how intensely different the girls look every time. Like, that little baby couldn’t even walk when we started working together and now she’s in school! I’m so grateful to have long relationships with so many of my family clients. I’m especially grateful that they believed in me back then when my work was…not as good as it is now!
I think it’s really important to have beautiful photos with your parents and grandparents. Now that I only have one living grandparent, I’m so grateful to have photos with them when I was growing up. Now that my parents are getting older, I’m finding myself wanting to take more photos of them and all of us as a family.
The thing I know for sure about young kids is that standing still and smiling is not their preferred activity. I love to get the kids moving and running wild. It brings out such natural joy and energy. I love the candid feel of these kinds of family photos. It’s also an amazing way to show off the natural beauty of whatever gorgeous location we’ve chosen for your photos. Just another reason why I love family photos at Deception Pass!
