It’s a New Kate Miller Photography

I am so excited to share the new website design and branding with all of you! Back in October, I started working with Ally of Ally B Designs. I was feeling like I had outgrown my branding and website and I was ready to take it to the next level. I went back and forth trying to decide if I was going to figure out how to DIY this or if I should hand it off to a professional. Wow, am I so glad I made the investment in a professional and let her guide the way!

In the beginning, I went through a number of writing exercises and prompts to give Ally an idea of how I wanted my brand to make you all feel. It’s the same way I want you to feel during a session and when you see my photos– honest, unique, comfortable, compassionate, captivated, and inspired. She came up with the logo and color palette of my dreams.

Ally also created design elements that enlivened everything. I am such a huge fan of her work and her process.

One of my biggest takeaways from this project is just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should. Yes, there are countless tutorials, resources, and templates about branding and web design. I probably could have figured it out and come up with something that looks good. But I wouldn’t have been able to tap in, so acutely, to that overall cohesiveness that Ally did. I would have ended up in the same place I was before–with a fraction of a brand, something that looked good but didn’t totally feel like me, going back and forth in my head about whether it was good enough or not. I saved myself so much time and second guessing by handing this off to Ally and paying her for her expertise.

I think that’s a hard part of owning your own business. There are so many things you can figure out, DIY, and macgyver, and sometimes you need to just get to it and figure it out for yourself. I’m learning there’s a time and a place for both methods. And when it’s time to ask for help, there are so many people who are also so good at their jobs!

Each piece of the website was created together. I wrote every sentence and Ally chose where it should go to make the most impact. So much work went into this project, and I’m happy to finally have a website that truly feels like me, for the first time.

I hope you read through every section. I hope it answers your questions, entertains you, and calms some of your nerves. I hope you feel connected to me and my work. I hope you understand how much I care about my clients, their experience, and the final photos

Kate Miller Photography is ready for the next step. I’m so glad you’re along for the ride.
