I had the joy of revisiting this couple who have recently become a family of three in North Bend. (Want to see their sweet maternity session? Yea, you do.) Having newborn photos is so important because those little guys don’t stay small for long! It’s a way to capture a very distinct moment in time, when you’re all first getting to know each other.
I love in-home sessions, especially with a teeny tiny baby. Everything feels little more relaxed, quiet, and intimate. Newborn photos should have a slow, intimate feel to them. It’s also much easier for me to come to you than it is to load everyone up and get somewhere else on time!
A photo session at home also gives you the chance to include any grandparents or family that might be in town. And of course, any of your pets!
Newborn photo sessions are a great time to incorporate some special family pieces or heirlooms. This yellow outfit was the grandfather’s baby outfit, how cool is that?
For my style of photography, the best time to do newborn sessions is when the baby is 4-8 weeks old. My focus is less on props and more on the connection you have with your brand new child. Every baby is different–sometimes they sleep through the whole thing, sometimes they’re totally alert–and we can create really beautiful photos either way!
Another perk of newborn photos? The outfits can be so simple. Pick out a cute onesie, a swaddle blanket, and a hat and we can easily create three different setups.
If you have a baby on the way and want to schedule your own session, then I’d love to talk with you.
